PROMOTING FORCE-FREE POSITIVE TRAINING & HANDLING
HEART July Meeting
Guest: Emily Coleman (CPDT-KA), Canine Solutions
Subject: Low Stress Handling
Low Stress Handling is a quarterly educational series put on by Emily Coleman, CPDT-KA. It is geared toward local rescue and shelter volunteers and emphasizes the importance of quality animal and human interactions. Local volunteers handle thousands of animals from a variety of backgrounds often without the support and knowledge to do so safely and with future experiences in mind. Because every experience is important, volunteers have a critical opportunity to make animal safer for potential adopters, medical staff, and the community in general. By learning effective techniques for minimizing stress in the handling experience volunteers have the opportunity to improve their fostering experience and reduce stress for all involved.
