PROMOTING FORCE-FREE POSITIVE TRAINING & HANDLING
HEART November Meeting
Clarity of training criteria can be explained better visually to our new clients. If you cannot draw a simple stick figure drawing of what you are asking the dog to do then you are starting with too difficult a concept. “What do you want the dog to do” gets lost in the shuffle of new puppy mayhem and reduced to “no!, stop!, bad dog!” We need to begin shaping the thought processes of our clients by adding training skills in a way that changes how they approach a problem. Help our beginning clients think visually, with clarity using this simple visual axiom.
This was Barbara's presentation at this year's APDT Conference.
